6. Guppy Gang AMA with Mintable — Summary
We had the chance to join Mintable for an AMA this week and Guppy Gang and all the exciting ideas and work we have already and on the roadmap. The full AMA is available below.
Introduction
Let me start with the history of Guppy Gang. Our company Phat Loot is developing a monster taming MMO called Untamed Isles that takes a “Game First, Crypto Second” approach. We leverage hybrid solutions to not let blockchain limit us. We really want to take our project and create a bridge into the gaming world that traditional crypto games haven’t been able to do.
Our goal is to create something on a game publisher and game studio level. We don’t just create our own games but we’re putting ourselves in the position to develop other studio’s games as well. We want to create games that gamers actually want to play.
The Guppy itself was the mascot of the studio, and the community really loved it. We wanted to use our own intellectual property so we leveraged the Guppy. The NFT itself has turned into a membership pass, for lack of a better word. As we grow and publish other games, do in real life events, ext ext, we will have exclusive perks for the holders. It allows us to connect with our users and provide another level of immersion into our ecosystem.
Community
We’re trying to build more of a mainstream product. Imagine a giant highway of NFTs where we are building different onramps to get onto this highway. Everybody’s customer journey is slightly different and up until now the mainstream gaming community has been left out. So within our community the majority of people within our ecosystem are brand new to crypto. The niche we’ve really filled is the traditional gaming crowd that have just recently bridged into NFT and crypto. They might not enjoy the other P2E games out there, but they are starting to get into NFTs. Our community is also very approachable. Their willingness to help educate the community with whatever questions they might have really takes us back on a regular basis. We do all types of community trivia, and gaming events as well. Richard really steps up to make that happen.
Paradise Wars
PW is a deck building auto-battler. The title is trying to capture the appeal of an auto-battler while adding extra layers of strategy by creating decks similar to trading card, and board games.
The leader and face of our company, Josh Grant, has a huge wealth of knowledge in the trading card, and board game industry. He was the CEO and founder of the channel fireball group which is one of the largest international companies within the trading card and table top industry.
There’s more of a focus on play to earn within this title. We created a sustainable economic model and we have two economists helping with this project. Guppy Treat Tokens will be introduced into the economy slowly so we don’t have broken economics. Not only will we be introducing GTT into this title, but the Guppy Gang NFTs themselves will also play a role within this title as well.
Guppy Treat Tokens
GTT is a Utility token. GTT will provide the holders with a plethora of choices that allow the player to pick between what they want to spend their tokens on. Note, whenever you spend tokens or post your Guppy to the marketplace, you stop earning GTT for a week. This creates token sinks that allow for balanced tokenomics by not allowing an abundance of GTT to be in circulation. You really have to choose what you want to spend your GTT on. We really took inspiration from CyberKongz $Banana and we’re trying to stand on the shoulders of giants to push this concept to a new level. GTT is deployed on Polygon right now, later down the road that will change. As of now, every Guppy earns 8 GTT per week as long as it hasn’t been disqualified for the week.
Guppy Doodles
Mo, our lead dev on the crypto side of things, has a background in Artificial Intelligence. Later down the road, every guppy holder will be able to pay Guppy Treat Tokens to create a Guppy drawing. The drawing leverages AI algorithms and your Guppy will adapt based on user feedback. Once you get the portrait to a state where you’re happy with it, you’re able to mint it into an NFT. You’ll be able to sell this NFT on the marketplace, or hang the doodle in your house within untamed isles.
Fair Tickets
Inside untamed isles there is a monthly fair. The fair will be an update after the game is released. Within the fair, players will be able to play minigames for a chance to win prizes. These prizes range from in-game cosmetics and NFTs, to actual physical products. Each game will require a different colored ticket. Each Guppy Gang NFT produces a different number of each color of ticket. You’re able to sell the tickets, or you can use them yourself to win prizes.
Partnerships
We have quite a few notable partnerships in the pipeline however there are two we can mention.
CyberKongz is one of our partners and they were a natural fit for us. We saw CyberKongz as a purest crypto mentality. The Kongz community is very tight knit, close, and non judgemental. It’s awesome to work with them. We’re actually developing a Kongz island within the Untamed Isles title. So that should be very exciting.
Our other partnership is Polygon, which is one of the top scaling solutions out there. Even though we plan to build our own chain in the future, as a game developer and publisher we’re not only going to build things on our chains. We have a long term vision of leveraging Polygon.
Influencer Incubation Program
One of the things we got frustrated with is the influencers in the NFT and Blockchain ecosystem. There are hardly any people who give unbiased information. They promote projects based on payment. We’re trying to lead an example for the crypto community by unleashing some new influencers into the space. We’re attempting to build a new-generation of crypto and NFT influencers that are organic. We’re providing our team of influencers with resources and guidance. We’re bringing on already popular influencers to train and be teachers for our influencers. We want our influencers to be unbiased and a source of accurate information.
